This project is one of several distribution center collaborations between ARCO and Randall-Paulson Architects. This LEED Gold Certified Cold Storage Facility is located in Aurora, Colorado, and includes different temperature-controlled warehouse rooms. The exteriorly located engine room provides support for overhead cooling systems along the roof throughout the building.

The design includes:

  • ± 31,200 SF two-story office with breakrooms, training rooms, individual offices, and open offices.
  • ± 9,874 SF two-story dock office with break-rooms, individual offices, open offices, logistics office, and trucker support facilities
  • ± 38,994 SF cold dock for the staging of the product before loading and after unloaded before racking
  • ± 47,863 SF -10°F freezer storage
  • ± 45,944 SF 35°F cooler storage
  • ± 206,070 SF ambient dry storage
  • ± 77,040 SF support space including material handling, battery charging, maintenance, and recycling dock
  • ± 9,041 SF Truck Maintenance, and Fueling Building

The exterior of this building is a combination of Thermomass panels, concrete tilt-up panels, and stacked stone over concrete tilt-up panels. The exterior design incorporates the local design vernacular while incorporating the UNFI colors and branding. The site also includes trailer parking and a truck maintenance building.
